Overview

Discotext ("the app") is a Bluetooth controller for Discotext LED letter signs. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and confirms that no personal data is collected, stored, or shared.

Data We Access

Microphone

The app requests access to your device's microphone solely to detect the tempo (BPM) of music playing nearby. This feature is used to synchronise your LED sign to the beat of music.

  • Audio is processed entirely on your device in real time
  • No audio is recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere
  • Audio processing ceases immediately when you stop the BPM detection feature or close the app
  • Microphone access can be revoked at any time in your device Settings without affecting other app functions

Bluetooth

The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with your Discotext LED controller hardware.

  • Bluetooth is used only to send lighting control commands to your sign
  • No data is transmitted to any external server, database, or third party via Bluetooth
  • The app does not scan for or connect to any device other than your Discotext controller

Location (Android only)

Android requires location permission to be granted before an app can scan for Bluetooth devices on Android 11 and below. This is an Android platform requirement.

  • The app does not access, use, or store your location
  • Location data is never read, processed, or transmitted
  • This permission is used solely to satisfy Android's Bluetooth scanning requirement on older devices
  • Android 12 and above does not require this permission

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact information
  • Your location
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Usage analytics or crash reports
  • Any audio recordings
  • Any personal data of any kind

Third-Party Services

The app does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. As no data is collected at all, the app is safe for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
